Programme brief · for approval

the campus, on
the weekend.

On Saturdays and Sundays the campus sits empty — 104 days a year. This programme rents those days out for birthdays, quinces, team days and company events, operated by Shelton After School. It needs no investment, no new hire, and touches no school day.

To the school, year one, conservative case
$15,360
On four events a month — fewer than half the available weekend days — at the 40% share agreed for year one. From year two the split is 50/50 and the same four events are worth $19,200. The whole calculation is below.

What is being sold

the spaces, and what they cost

Four-hour blocks. These are the numbers from the working sheet — approving them is decision 1.

Space4 hours
Basketball — 1 court$480
Gym / indoor soccer$600
Pickleball — 1 court$300
Library — seats 80–90$600
Cafeteria 1 — Welcome Center$400
Cafeteria 2$600
Cafeteria 2 + kids park$800
Soccer + Cafeteria 2 + park$1,100
Four spaces incl. pickleball$1,500

One event

where each dollar goes

A typical Saturday birthday: the Cafeteria 2 and kids park package, $800. The split is taken on the full price, with nothing deducted first.

$800what the client pays
$320to the school — 40% in year one
$480to The Weekend Yard, which sells and runs each event — 60%
From year two the split is 50/50 — $400 each on the same event. Year one leans towards the operator because that is when the clientele is built from nothing. The vendor commission splits on the same rule.

Over a year

three scenarios, not a promise

There are 104 weekend days in a year, so even the busiest row does not fill the calendar.

Scenario Billed / month To the school — year 1 (40%) From year 2 (50%)
Year one, conservative
4 events a month
$3,200$15,360$19,200
Established
8 events a month
$6,400$30,720$38,400
Busy
12 events a month
$9,600$46,080$57,600
The highlighted row is the one we propose to be held to. A new programme does not fill weekends in its first month; the first three months will be two to three events while the 400 families learn it exists. There are 28 weekend days left in 2026 after 26 September — at that rate roughly 13 events, about $4,160 to the school before the year is out. We would rather promise low and beat it.

What the school puts in

nothing it does not already have

Deliberately not in these numbers: the vendor commission from caterers, décor and photography, set at 10% and splitting on the same rule. The local market pays 5–10% according to Borja — 5% without alcohol, 10% where there are bars — so 10% sits at the top of what is currently paid. It is counted in no scenario here. For the entrepreneurs running children's activities the arrangement would be a fixed amount per child, still to be set.

What we need from you

five decisions

None of these need budget. Each one unlocks something already built and waiting. Already settled: Oscar opens, closes and cleans after each event; above 50 guests additional staff are added; and the vendor commission is set at 10%.

How it gets sold

everything here already exists

Everything below already exists and costs nothing further. The only thing missing is the decisions above.

Posting starts nearly three weeks before the doors open, deliberately. An account with nothing in it converts nobody, and anticipation is worth more than the wait.
